HOW I WORK
Here’s what you can expect working with me. I am well-versed in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which are both evidenced-based practices that focus on how changing our thought patterns and behavior can influence our day-to-day feelings and experiences.
In addition, I have cultivated years of using different modalities such as motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and crisis management.
I have helped clients diagnosed with ADHD, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, suicidal ideation, and other behavioral or personality patterns that may interfere with living a fulfilled life. I also have been certified in EMDR. I have also worked with domestic violence survivors as well as clients who want to talk about relationship dynamics within family, and between partners and friends.
I have a rich experience practicing with all different racial and gender identifying populations. As a white cis-woman, I recognize how my own life experiences and privileges might vary from someone of a different race, religion, or gender identity. I prioritize and value continuing my education on the historical and contemporary contexts of populations that diverge from my own demographic, and I look forward to bringing that knowledge into the therapy room with you. I also like to incorporate the practice of mindfulness and somatic therapy - I want to make sure clients feel connected to their body throughout our sessions. This practice is crucial to gain a full understanding of how we function.
I am also a big believer in approaching every client with warmth, humility, and a healthy dose of humor. There is nothing like a good laugh to break up some tension.
